Maurice ‘Pirahnahead’ Herd is one of Detroit's true ambassadors of music; Rock & Roll, House / Techno to Funk, R & B Soul, Jazz and Classical; No matter what genre, he is interwoven into the fabric of Detroit's musical and historic tapestry. As a recording engineer and producer at Rustbelt Studios, he has produced for Les Nubians, Diviniti, Mollywop, and Slight Return, and has remixed for Kem, and Avery Sunshine among others. Among his many talents, one which he is well known and credited for is as String Arranger, which he has earned Grammy Nominations (De La Soul), and carries on the Motown tradition by studying the craft of music arranging from Paul Riser Sr. Pirahnahead is also an advisor with the Detroit Sound Conservancy, and helped to preserve United Sound Studios.
