Kaylan Waterman is a born and raised Detroiter from the city's West Side. 

Although the majority of her career has been rooted in arts & culture and community development, Waterman's educational background lies in the sciences, having achieved a Biology degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy. 

Waterman is currently the Operations Manager at Music Licensing and Artist Development hub, Assemble Sound. She is also an artist who performs under the moniker, Vespre - a new wave disco and R&B band project which she writes, directs, and produces.
