Alisa Moldavanova is an Associate Professor of Public Administration in the Political Science Department at Wayne State University, where she teaches courses on the management of public and nonprofit organizations, public personnel management, and ethics in public policy and administration.Dr. Moldavanova's research areas include public and nonprofit management, organization theory, and ethics and sustainability studies. She is currently conducting research on the sustainability of cultural organizations in the Detroit Metropolitan Area and the State of Michigan, which includes research on the contributions of nonprofit cultural organizations to community sustainability, and how arts and culture organizations use collaborative strategies and inter-organizational relationships to cope with external stress and achieve longer-term sustainability.

Dr. Moldavanova’s work has been published in the Journal of Urban Affairs, The American Review of Public Administration, Public Management Review, Administration and Society, and The International Journal of Sustainability Policy and Practice. She is also a co-editor of the 2018 volume - The Nonprofit Sector in Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia: Civil Society Advances and Challenges - an inaugural book in the nonprofit research series by Brill Publishers that features contributions by 14 nonprofit and civil society scholars from countries of the EERCA region.
