Carleton S. Gholz

Since 2011, Dr. Carleton S. Gholz has been bootstrapping an arts nonprofit in Detroit with the mission of making Detroiters’ lives better through music and preservation. He was born in Port Huron, raised in Troy, and has spent the majority of his last twenty years in Detroit. He has taught high school history and government, college-level communication and media courses, and written professionally since 1999. He has a PhD in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh and taught at Northeastern University in Boston before returning to Detroit to become Executive Director of Detroit Sound Conservancy.
